CONCERNED YOUTH OF TEMA DEBUNKED ALLEGATIONS OF BRIBERY AND CORRUPTION AGAINST MANAGING DIRECTOR OF TDC
The Concerned Youth of Tema strongly condemn and completely debunk the malicious allegations of bribery and corruption levelled against the Managing Director of TDC Ghana Limited, Mr. Courage Makafui Nunekpeku, in a viral video circulated by OHIA TV, a station allegedly owned by Abronya DC, the NPP’s Brong Ahafo Regional Chairman.
These unfounded accusations are being orchestrated by individuals who have repeatedly attempted to pressure the Managing Director to illegally allocate fraudulent lands, government-reserved lands, and legitimately owned private properties. Mr. Nunekpeku has remained firm, fearless, and uncompromising in defending the integrity of TDC’s land administration. These fabrications are nothing but a desperate attempt to tarnish his hard-earned reputation as a diligent and principled public servant. Such claims should be treated with the utmost contempt and dismissed outright.
In the said video, it is absurdly alleged that the Managing Director accepted a bribe of Two Million Ghana Cedis (GHS 2,000,000) from one Mr. Adade Bawuah merely to permit the construction of a fenced wall. This allegation defies logic: if the land rightfully belonged to Mr. Bawuah, why would he need to pay such an exorbitant bribe simply to fence his own property?
Furthermore, the video references construction activity near the Tema Ramsar site, a wetland of international importance under the Ramsar Convention, officially designated in 1992. It supports over 70 species of waterbirds, serves as a critical nursery for marine fish, and provides essential ecosystem services including flood control and recreational functions. Successive governments, including clear directives from the Presidency, have emphasised the need to protect this ecologically sensitive area from encroachment and degradation. The Managing Director of TDC has been steadfast in upholding this national and international obligation.
It is also claimed that Mr. Adade Bawuah summoned the TDC boss before the arbitration court of Klikor in the Ketu South Municipal Assembly, Volta Region. If the accusers genuinely believed that a GHS 2 million bribe was paid and subsequently ignored, they would have invoked traditional oaths or spiritual sanctions long ago, as is customary in such matters. The fact that no such action has been taken only exposes the hollowness of their allegations.
We wish to serve notice to those behind this orchestrated campaign of calumny that their efforts will fail. No amount of fabricated stories, sponsored media attacks, or underhand tactics will succeed in intimidating the Managing Director or forcing him to compromise on principle. The good people of Tema and Ghana at large recognise his integrity and dedication to duty.
The Concerned Youth of Tema stand solidly behind Mr. Courage Makafui Nunekpeku and salute his courage in protecting both public and private lands from the greed of a few selfish individuals.
……Signed….
Concerned Youth of Tema
