President John Dramani Mahama has officially opened the Northshore Apparel Hub, a garment manufacturing factory at Savelugu in the Northern Region, as part of government’s broader efforts to boost industrialisation, create sustainable jobs and accelerate Ghana’s export growth.
The newly commissioned facility is expected to contribute to the development of Ghana’s garment and textile industry by creating employment opportunities, supporting local value addition and strengthening the country’s capacity to produce and export made-in-Ghana apparel.
Speaking at the commissioning, President Mahama described the facility as a major practical example of his government’s 24-hour economy vision, which seeks to expand economic activity beyond the traditional working hours while creating more opportunities for businesses and workers.
He said investments in manufacturing and other productive sectors remain critical to building a stronger and more resilient economy, particularly by empowering young people with employment opportunities and developing industries capable of competing in international markets.
The Northshore Apparel Hub is also expected to support local businesses within its supply chain while contributing to the socio-economic development of Savelugu and the wider Northern Region.
Government says initiatives of this nature form part of its commitment to promoting industrialisation, increasing domestic production and positioning Ghana as a competitive hub for garment manufacturing and exports.
